For a disease such as pancreatitis, the presence of severe inflammation in the pancreas is characteristic. This disease is usually extremely difficult. Usually, in addition to drugs, a person who has pancreatitis or cholecystitis must follow a special diet. And the rejection of a number of products helps to reduce inflammation and promotes a faster cure.

However, patients do not always know what to include in their diet, and what types of food should be completely abandoned for a while. Different types of diets and in different forms of pancreatitis and cholecystitis.

About what you can eat with pancreatitis, and what foods and drinks you should refuse, will be described below.

Acute form of pancreatitis: menu features

  • Nutrition in this disease implies the presence in the diet of a large number of foods rich in proteins, and the almost complete exclusion from the diet of those foods that are high in carbohydrates and fats.
  • In addition, it is forbidden to eat any fried food, as well as containing fiber (especially coarse). The list of useful products for the inflammatory process in the pancreas is quite large, but we must remember that it is forbidden to eat with pancreatitis and cholecystitis: fatty, spicy, sour and salty foods.
  • In acute pancreatitis, you need to consume a large amount of fluid (if urination is within the normal range). Its daily volume should be within 1.5 liters per day, and it is best to drink alkaline mineral water - Narzan, Borjomi, etc. Large volumes of such a liquid help to suppress the release of pancreatic juice into the digestive system, reduce pain in the area near the inflamed gland , remove toxic substances from the patient's body.
  • And in the first two days after the onset of an acute form of pancreatitis, doctors recommend almost complete abstinence from food, especially if the patient has severe pain in the pancreas. Such a "hungry" diet is necessary in order to reduce the load on the inflamed gland so that the secretion of juice does not increase.
  • Food consumed in pancreatitis should be boiled or baked, and in no case fried. It can be fish dishes (from lean fish), poultry, beef. These allowed foods should be in the diet of about 100 - 120 grams per day. Seafood occupies one of the main places on the table of a person suffering from acute or chronic forms of pancreatitis and cholecystitis.
  • Therapeutic nutrition for this disease is known as diet number 5. Such nutrition is not prescribed to a sick person for the rest of his life, but is recommended for the acute course of the disease, or if chronic pancreatitis has worsened. This diet involves frequent meals (at least 5 times a day), but you need to eat in small portions.
  • The composition of such a diet includes dried wheat bread, cookies without muffin.
  • Meat should not be fatty (only beef or chicken), eggs only in the form of a steamed omelet, various dishes with milk, cottage cheese (not sour), various puddings, cereals are the main food for this disease. Cooked in any way (except frying) zucchini, carrots, potatoes and cauliflower - these vegetables are also included in the menu of a person suffering from pancreatitis.
  • Soups should be either cereal (sufficiently slimy), or you can eat thick soups, mashed potatoes from vegetables and seafood.
  • From drinks it is better to use kissels, compotes or jelly. Tea should be weakly brewed, it is better to replace it with a decoction of rose hips. You can make puree from grated vegetables or fruits of sweet varieties. You can bake sweet varieties of apples in the oven. But sour varieties of apples are strictly forbidden to eat with inflammation in the pancreas or with pancreatitis.

Acute pancreatitis: what not to eat?

There is a whole list of forbidden foods, what you can not eat with pancreatitis:

  • fatty meats and fish;
  • poultry meat - geese, ducks;
  • any smoked and spicy foods and dishes;
  • any dried fruits, because they have a lot of fiber;
  • alcohol is completely excluded, it is desirable to reduce the number of cigarettes smoked;
  • rye bread and any muffin (including sweet pastries);
  • any offal;
  • sausages;
  • healthy fermented milk products, natural milk;
  • legumes;
  • cereal products such as millet or barley porridge;

Diet for chronic pancreatitis and cholecystitis

In nutrition with chronic pancreatitis and cholecystitis (in cases where there is no exacerbation of these diseases), the amount of "forbidden" food is somewhat reduced.

However, the list of bans still remains:

  • You can not eat foods and drinks that contribute to the release of bile and various digestive enzymes, especially eggs.
  • Salty, fatty and spicy foods. The meat should not be fatty (you can not eat duck meat, pork, lamb). Such products require a large amount of enzymes, this is a high load for the pancreas.
  • It is worth giving up chicken and beef liver. Dishes from these ingredients enhance the synthesis of enzymes, increasing the load on the diseased organ.
  • Any vegetables must be thermally processed (except for frying), they are contraindicated in their raw form. Mushrooms are not allowed.
  • It is necessary to give up drinks with a lot of gases, coffee, strong tea.
  • Alcoholic products harm the entire body, not just the inflamed gland.
  • Any fast food, instant food are also on the list of prohibited foods.
  • It is necessary to limit the use of pickled dishes, pickles, spices.
  • You can not eat dry food or in a hurry.

Nutrition for these chronic diseases should also be moderate - it is better to eat a little, but 6 times a day, so as not to overload diseased organs. Food products must be fresh. Dishes are prepared immediately before serving.

The main menu for these diseases is the same as for acute forms. However, there are dietary restrictions as well. Patients with chronic forms of pancreatitis and cholecystitis are sometimes allowed to eat the following foods:

  • Meat is allowed only low-fat varieties. It can be beef, turkey, chicken, rabbit. It can be stewed, steamed, baked, fried should be discarded.
  • Low-fat fish is allowed to be eaten in any form, except fried. You can cook cutlets, soufflés from it, just bake or cook.
  • It is allowed to eat various seafood, they contain a large amount of proteins.
  • Milk is a rather heavy product, it should not be consumed raw. You can cook various cereals on it (except for millet and pearl barley). The diet should contain lactic acid products, hard cheeses. It is allowed to eat cottage cheese casseroles, dumplings and baked pies (not rich) with non-sour cottage cheese.
  • Eggs are allowed in the form of a steam omelet or soft-boiled, it is better to eat only protein, the yolk is a heavy product for the pancreas.
  • Bread is allowed only white, dried.
  • Vegetables and fruits can be consumed boiled or baked.
  • Sweets are prohibited, you can use jelly, marmalade, marshmallows in small quantities.
  • Tea can be drunk either from medicinal herbs or green.

Products for pancreatitis should be such that they can be easily absorbed by the body. These are the allowed products. The last meal should be no later than 19 pm. Before going to bed, you can satisfy your hunger with a glass of kefir or dried fruit compote.

Since with acute or chronic pancreatitis in the body there is a deficiency of vitamins, the doctor usually prescribes a complex of vitamins for such patients.

Of course, the diet for patients with chronic forms of pancreatitis and cholecystitis should be strictly individual. A specific menu is selected by a dietitian, based on the severity of the disease.

Since chronic pancreatitis is practically incurable, a sick person will have to adhere to a diet all the time.
